Fifa exposes all Cameron's flaws and frailties!

The failed bid by England for the football world cup enthusiastically backed by David Cameron who ludicrously travelled backwards and forwards to Zurich for this well deserved trashing either side of PMQ when he made the following, now quite hilarious, assertions:

Q2. [27559] Caroline Dinenage (Gosport) (Con): The Prime Minister explained how he is shuttling between London and Zurich in support of England's World cup bid. Can he update the House on how that bid is progressing, please?
The Prime Minister: I am grateful for that question. England 2018 has a very strong bid. With regard to the technical aspects, we have the stadiums, the facilities and the transport networks. We have the enthusiasm in our country for football and we can put on an absolutely first-class World cup. I know that many people will ask, "Are you spending too much time on something that might not succeed?" I would say, "If you don't get on to the pitch, you have no chance of winning." We should all get behind the bid.

Arrogance is the hallmark of the statement and the resultant total failure, behind it also lies obvious lack of proper planning, inability to realistically appraise the opportunities for succes (England, after all, gained only one outside vote), failure to gain the necessary intelligence on those upon whose votes your success depended and finally a complete ignorance of reality even at the moment immediately ahead of your certain humiliation.

It is on this same basis that Cameron and his small clique of big-headed bullies now govern the country and run the economy, only blind idiots could be so unaware of the nation's truly crippled financial straits that they would feel able to throw away billions of pounds in wasted aid to Ireland at such a point of history.

Twenty years to the day since Maggie Thatcher resigned and the Euro is doomed!

Some apparent co-incidences are too sweet not to be flavoured in full! Read Charles Moore in the Daily Telegraph this morning, linked here, then Fraser Nelson, "The death knell for the Euro" from the Spectator linked here.

Unhappily Cameron and Osborne continue the Tory treachery that brought Maggie Thatcher down, how long before Conservatives finally awake from their sleepwalk and kick such traitors from office?

Cameron's father-in-law took £247,000 from the EU last year!

If you are one of the many Conservative voters who have been wondering why, in spite of all his euro-sceptic rhetoric down the years, David Cameron once becoming PM has suddenly become a complete poodle to the corrupt and non-democratic EU, then the fact revealed on Channel 4 Dispatches programme last evening, view here, that his wife's dad got almost a quarter of a million quid from the organisation might provide a clue.

If you think the PM's perks and salary make such considerations irrelevant, consider this was for one single year, the payments have been continuing for years and are likely to do so stretching into the distant future long after the Coalition is booted from office!

Other details involve £130,000 for Prince Charles, Mandelsons continuing payments, and Clegg's EU expenses Brussels property gains. Watch it in full, the programme merely scratches the surface of the monster Europe has created in its midst.

Continuing corruption within Cameron's Conservative Party

Peter Oborne has a good article in the Daily Telegraph this morning, linked here.

The title is "Our Parliament is rotten to the core" which is true but now of little importance as William Hague yesterday introduced a so-called Sovereignty Bill, read here, which in common with so much else that surrounds the EU actually achieves the reverse of what it purports to intend by handing the decision to transfer the last remaining shreds of sovereignty into the hands of one single minister.

"Our Parliament" is actually the European Parliament now Mr Oborne, that has been rotten since its inception as is recognised across Europe, it also has no power to legislate on any important issue, a fact now duplicated in Westminster. These two places are solely means of rewarding the filth who sold out our democracy on an ongoing basis and for their party successors!

Harriers versus Tornadoes

The debate on jet fighters on Radio 4 this morning was interesting. It may be heard from here.

My grandfather transferred from the Royal Navy flying seaplanes over the Channel during the Great War, to become an early officer in the newly formed RAF so I have taken more than a passing interest in the long ongoing debate on the question of naval air power and the need for carrier borne fighter aircraft.

In this post colonial age it appears to me the Falkland Islands would be the only remaining British dependency economically worthwhile defending with carrier borne aircraft, yet the huge investment to construct the RAF Mount Pleasant airfield was surely justified against the costs of constant aircraft carrier patrols in the South Atlantic.

Recent drilling off the Falklands should now allow more detailed cost/risk analysis to be compared with potential hydrocarbon rewards, but given the history the arguments put forward by Lord West seem less than sound, could we really have sent a two carrier force to the South Atlantic during the past decade?

Yet the arguments put forward by the Lib/Dem Arms Minister during the broadcast seem equally shaky. Nato will be defeated in Afghanistan because you cannot tell an Afghani tribesman from a member of the Taliban and in the end the Afghanis always win at Home. To base our entire air defence policy on the fact that the Tornadoes are more practicable in Afghanistan when the PM has already hinted at a British run down there next year seems absurd.

On balance therefore I must come down against the direction of the career move made by my Grandfather and support the Ark Royal/Harrier argument, such a view being strengthened by the report in the Telegraph this morning that the catapault system for the new carriers will only come at horrendous cost, declaring Force Majeure or malintent on those contracts seems the most sensible course.

Cameron gives UK Assent to Lisbon II Treaty

CNBC TV is reporting that Cameron has conceded the principle that there will be an amendment to the Lisbon Treaty which must mean he has backtracked on every promise and statement he has made on the EU since becoming Conservative Party Leader, there can be no other interpretation of his actions.

David Cameron, as long predicted on my blog Teetering Tories, ever since the day he became the most likely leader of the Conservative Party, has thus totally betrayed Britain and particularly all those who voted for him and his party.

William Hague proposes Bill to confirm Parliamentary Sovereignty

Speaking on Sky News the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, who in a few short months has managed to make his predecessor David Miliband appear a significant figure, has stated on Sky News that the Coalition Government will pass a Bill stating that Parliament has the sovereign right to legislate. If ever an act appeared calculated to throw into doubt whether such real sovereignty is still intact, this surely has to be just that. The item was on Sky News at 07:31 am.

Today this shameful figure will speak to his party and pretend that further losses of sovereignty are not now automatic under the Lisbon Treaty and that his flaky and insubstantial Cabinet colleagues have not already since last May conceded huge swathes of sovereignty not least in the EU Investgation orders and the European External Action Service, both at incalculable but huge financial as well as sovereign sacrifices.

George Osborne's Child Benefit Cut and its Timing

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, we are told, considers himself a political strategist. Why then announce a cut to universal child benefit at your own party conference, which will bear most heavily on the income group which provides your party's core support yet will only come into effect some three years into the future?

The first assumption I make is that Osborne believes that the Coalition will (note; not 'can' but 'will') survive the full five years in power. Interestingly Parliament will almost certainly at some stage need to have its powers further neutered if such is to be guaranteed. A General Election in May 2013, a probable date in my earlier calculations of likliehoods would now appear totally out of the question coming one month after the money is actually cut at the start of the financial year.

A rational and consistent approach to reducing universality by cutting heating allowances and free bus passes for the over 65s would have been consistent and logical, dispelling the impression that there is some form of political process in play.

The greatest mystery arise from the deferment of the cut to 2013. Surely any unpopular move such as this is best brought in as far from the next election as possible, therefore as soon as possible. As austerity and the huge government borrowings of one pound in every four being spent today is the ostensible reason then logically the cut should be effective at the latest at the start of the next tax year or lumped in with any other necessary fiscal changes coming from the spending cuts to be announced later this month.

There is no discernible logic behind the change or the timing of its announcement.

What I believe we have seen is a drawing of the line at a level of income where a future combined political party will look for support at the next general election when the coalition will plan to run only joint candidates. Cameron and Osborne will thus have achieved that of which Blair could only dream in his long gone Labour Party Conference speech, the destruction of Conservatism.

Cameron and Osborne are now betting that their Tory supportes are too dense to perceive this reality, a calculation in which they are probably correct.

For a Prime Minister sandwiched between familial male disabilities - THE real challenge now awaits!

Anyone reading the two obituaries linked here and here would be hard-hearted indeed not to admire the courage and empathise with the pathos of the two separate lives therein described.

Strange indeed that the Father of the one early life, cut short before it had barely begun, would also be the Son of the second life described, a courageous but strangely privileged one, played out to its full length and only ending this week.

None can speculate at the strengths or weaknesses such circumstances could cause in any man, let alone one charged with leading a nation through its darkest days for seventy years.

When I penned the posting beneath this, I had not been aware of the depths of tragedy in this extraordinary saga, that David Cameron could be extraordinarily good for the country OR a complete disaster must now be obvious to any who read the links to this posting.

The coming days will tell!

My condolences to David Cameron

The loss of a father is often a traumatic and symbolic moment in any man's lifetime. I pass my condolences to the Prime Minister which are no less sincere for the fact that this blog has been one of his most constant critics.

Many of those criticisms detailed here on this blog, could well be ascribed to a complaint which all experience in their youth, namely immaturity. My Father's passing when I was only 22 made me grow up very fast, which looking back over the intervening forty-four years I can now determine almost certainly made me the possibly somewhat intolerant and irascible individual that I am today. I do believe that on the plus side, however, it allowed me to form an ability for fast but considered decision making that I was able to profit from in life.

Such a sea-change now confronts Britain's Prime Minister. There are challenges enough ahead, for example the economy and the future path of both Germany and the USA., as discussed on Ironies Too yesterday and today.

When Mr Cameron returns to Downing Street, perhaps we will see signs of such new maturity, a dumping of the former News International placeman at the centre of Downing Street power would be an encouraging first step.

A sloppy, slap-happy government...!!

I called it sloppy, slap-happy government. It is time for some disciplined thought and disciplined action. Being a Prime Minister is a serious business,” So said Lord Tebbit as reported in the London Evening Standard this evening, linked here.

Cameron and his similarly privileged and EU programmed side-kick Nick Clegg, are further dishing the country ever deeper into the mire, as if New Labour had not already brought it to its knees. (Mixed metaphor or what? Will the mire soon reach the neck?)

Yet senior Conservative Party politicians such as Lord Tebbit himself remain on board the train that careers ever downwards and out of control, in spite of his assertion at lunch on 9th September 2003 that the only choice as far as the EU was concerned, was to get off and board another tube train heading in a directly opposite direction!

"Being Prime Minister is a serious business" states Lord Tebbit, yet his party tolerated Cameron for years to only then lead their party into but one more predictable defeat (as almost daily chronicled on this blog). Yet still these senior sceptics remain, bleating about the froth, whipped up by the escaping air from the head of the opportunistic, marketing-model dimwit their party put in charge!

Resign and form a proper party Lord Tebbit, as you should have done many years ago, or spare us your tardy protests!

Cameron's crippling personality flaws

There has been much written and said about the Cameron 1940 gaffe descibed in our posting below of yesterday.

Cameron clearly has no feel for history and what is worse lacks the ability to put himself in another's shoes, a fatal flaw in any intenational situation let alone negotiations. His comparative youth and complete lack of any leadership experience comingh on top of his insular upbringing and lack of proper foreign travel compounds the danger this represents for his country. The fact that the same failings seem to exist across the entire coalition cabinet.

The definitive work on the Anglo/US relationship in 1940 is in my view "Roosevelt & Churchill" by David Stafford, my edition is by Abacus History ISBN 0-349-11282-7 and interested readers should go to page 47.

In the meantime I offer some quotes, from here, to help my readers put themselves in the shoes of an ordinary British citizen in 1940 as we faced Hitler and his Nazis alone.

United Kingdom - World War 2 Flag "My strength has now been reduced to the equivalent of 36 squadrons...we should be able to carry on the war single-handed for some time if not indefinitely."
Sir Hugh Dowding - RAF Fighter Command - May 1940
United Kingdom - World War 2 Flag "We must be very careful not to assign to this deliverance the attributes of a victory. War's are not won by evacuations."
Winston Churchill - To Parliament - 4th June 1940
Germany - World War 2 Flag "Dunkirk has fallen... with it has ended the greatest battle of world history. Soldiers! My confidence in you knew no bounds. You have not disappointed me."
Adolf Hitler - Order of the Day - 5th June 1940
Italy - World War 2 Flag "Mussolini is quite humiliated because our troops have not moved a step forward. Even today they have not succeeded in advancing and have halted in front of the first French fortification which put up some resistance."
Count Ciano - Italian Foreign Minister (written in his diary) - 21st June 1940
Germany - World War 2 Flag "My Luftwaffe is invincible...And so now we turn to England. How long will this one last - two, three weeks?"
Hermann Goring - June 1940
United Kingdom - World War 2 Flag "Like so many of our people, we have now had a personal experience of German barbarity which only strengthens the resolution of all of us to fight through to final victory."
King George VI - September 1940
Italy - World War 2 Flag "Never has a military operation been undertaken so much against the will of the commanders."
Count Ciano - Italian Foreign Minister (Commenting on the Italian Advance into Egypt) - September 1940
United Kingdom - World War 2 Flag "Never in the field of human conflict, has so much, been owed by so many, to so few!"
Winston Churchill - September 1940
Germany - World War 2 Flag "Once more a red fire blows steeply upwards...the factory will do no more work for Herr Churchill...tomorrow morning Coventry will lie in smoke and ruins."
Josef Goebbels - Ministry of Propaganda - September 1940
Italy - World War 2 Flag "Fuhrer, we are on the march! Victorious Italian troops crossed the Greco-Albanian frontier at dawn today!"
Benito Mussolini - (to Adolf Hitler) 28th October 1940
USA - World War 2 Flag "Nothing would please me better than if they would give me three months and then attack here."
General Douglas Macarthur - Supreme Allied Commander of South-West Pacific - (Speaking of the Philippines) 5th December 1940
United Kingdom - World War 2 Flag "Singapore... could only be taken after a siege by an army of at least 50,000 men... its not considered possible that the Japanese...would embark on such a mad enterprise."

Put these against what David Cameron stated yesterday I think it's important in life to speak as it is, and the fact is that we are a very effective partner of the US, but we are the junior partner'. 'We were the junior partner in 1940 when we were fighting the Nazis.'

Against that I suppose the only flag that could be added would be the yellow stars on the blue background of the EU, in recogntion of our complete surrender to the concepts and tyranny against which our forebears so bravely fought alone during 1940.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Cameron knows no recent history! Clearly he is unfit for office.

David Cameron, Britain's Prime Minister, believes Britain was a junior partner to the USA in fighting the Nazis in 1940.

The USA was not even in the war at that point as Britain then stood alone in a completely subdued, quaking and mostly conquered Europe.

What a shameful lack of knowledge for this supposed leader of the Nation. Not even knowing on the just passed 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain that we then fought alone.

NO WONDER HE LOST THE ELECTION..... KICK HIM OUT NOW!

QUISLING!!

There are many words this image from an article in the Daily Telegraph this image evokes, among them traitor, liar hypocrite, opportunist, liar and cheat are but a few of the mildest. That I have chosen for this posting's headline states it the best for me.

Consider the tone of the accompanying article..... what utter tripe! There are no victories for Britain in the EU, look at our social disorder, neutered Parliament and sold off basic industries now run for foreigners by opportunistic barrow boys such as was clearly demonstrated by the leaders of BP in the USA this week.

Cameron slimed his way to power within the Conservative Party by the pretense that he was opposed to the EU and would begin to sever the tentacles which increasingly squeeze the decency from our former democracy, yet now he claims "There are things we can do at the European level that are in Britain's interest. I've always believed that. Even my most Eurosceptic colleagues would accept that."

Rubbish, supping with the devil has ever only had one end result!

Cameron joins the list of recent Prime Ministers who have directed their personal ambitions to treacherous ends. His crime is the greater for the direction and intent of the EU must now be clearer to all. Perhaps that fact will eventually allow for this comparatively young Prime Minister to be eventually held to account.

Graham Brady gets boost in Cameron's 1922 climbdown

A report from the Telegraph is linked here.

Reports indicate that the Queen's Speech will today be notable as marking the Coalition Government attempt to turn UK Parliamentary Politics into an ideology free zone where the mathematics of the deficit and the debt are the sole real imperative.

Graham Brady has beliefs, as should all Conservatives!

Cameron's crushing of the 1922 Committee.

The Independent has a report, linked here, on the further moves to consolidate Cameron's carefully conspired manoeuvres to destroy the foundations of the Conservative Party in his attack on the role of the 1922 Committee while the party is in government. As the true heir to Tony Blair, particularly in regard to the latter's 1999 Labour Party Conference speech, this will of course come as no surprise to regular readers of this blog.

To Tory Party members who have had their head's firmly buried in the sands for the past several years, particularly regular contributors to the comment facility of the Conservative Home blog, I can imagine this is all arriving as a particularly nasty surprise.

My critique of the Cameron Clegg Coalition will in future be mainly found on the new blog Cameron Clegg Concordat, where the full coalition agreement was linked last evening with the crucial section on Europe reproduced in full.

The final death agonies of Conservatism will continue to be covered on this blog. The Tories opted for power at any price by turning a blind eye to the manner of Cameron's election to the Party Leadership and all the warning signs in the years that followed, from whence will spring a new Conservatism?

Obituary for the Tories and the moment England faced annihilation!

Jeff Randall in this morning's Daily Telegraph writes a brilliant summary of the thoroughly evil disaster that was the New Labour Project, linked here.

Of greater interest to readers of this blog is the fate of the Tories. Am I the only Englishman this morning amazed at the new Prime Minister's sudden dash to the small subsidiary country to our north to visit Alex Salmond, the loud mouth Scot who less than one week ago was slavering on our television screens as to how much (he refused to offer any actual demand) he would be able to extract via Brown from the English taxpayers as the price for keeping that despot in power? This blog has much in its archives on the doubts as to where David Cameron's true loyalties lie, given his boastfulness about the strength of the Scottish blood flowing through his veins and ambivalent attitude to the unequal funding arrangements in force across the UK.

I blogged elsewhere on the providential nature of the final voting figures and seat distribution in last week's election, but look closely at the numbers and one can quickly see how close England came to facing economic strangulation by the combined forces of the Brown henchmen and the Celtic fringe nationalists. If there is to be electoral reform the English must now ensure that an outcome that almost took place this week can never again remain a possibility under our constitutional arrangements.

As Cameron in his new role as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has seen fit to prostrate himself before the First Minister of the junior and subsidiary so-called Scottish Parliament it appears that the English must rely on the polyglot Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to protect their interests, yet given his admiration for all that the misguided and corrupted EU represents, how can we possibly do so?

One thing is certain at this dawn of the new Coalition Politics, not just New Labour but also the old Tory Party and its values have today been cast aside.

The progress of the coalition, which presently has my full support in view of the numerical imperatives (for which Cameron is to blame), may be followed on my new blog, linked here and added to the side-bar links. My beliefs in what I can best describe as the old Conservative values nevertheless remain intact, albeit nowhere represented in Britain's Parliamentary party politics

David Cameron offers Liberal Democrats generous terms!

This blog was incredibly impressed with the offer just now made by David Cameron to the Liberal Democrats to reach an agreement to form a stable government to solve the national crises.

If this offer is carried through to a final agreement and governance, this blog can foresee offering its support to David Cameron in such a Government, an eventuality it could not have envisioned had a Tory majority been obtained!

Should Cameron fail he should be fired next Monday!

The performance by Cameron on yesterday's Andrew Marr Show, the transcript of which may be read from here (also now added to the posting on the subject of that interview in the post below), will rob Cameron of any authority to impose the drastic cuts needed should he be fortunate enough to now gain a working majority.

Cameron's failure to gain a working majority after years leading the opposition to the most profligate and incompetent administration in the nation's modern history must condemn Cameron to removal by the party, should anything other than a working majority have been obtained by the Conservative Party at this time next week.

Such a Conservative majority would be close to a miracle considering the dishonest manner in which the party's campaign has been run!

Cameron's evasions prove his unfitness for Governance!

The transcript of the string of shameless evasions the Conservative Leader employed in this morning's interview on the Andrew Marr Show will be posted here tomorrow when the transcript of the broadcast is available from the BBC.

(3rd May links added: transcript here, video link here).

They will become a platform for defiance were he to be elected to become Prime Minister next Thursday.

The measures for Greece to cure a similar debt and deficit problem agreed by the Greek PM and his Cabinet this morning, include the following, as reported by Reuters, linked here:

Under the deal with the European Union and International Monetary Fund (IMF), Greece plans to cut the deficit to 8.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2010, 7.6 percent in 2011 and 6.5 percent in 2012.

The deficit would not fall below the EU's 3 percent of GDP limit until 2014. Debt was expected to rise to nearly 150 percent in 2013, before falling from 2014.

He said the measures included a rise in value-added tax (VAT) to 23 percent from 21 percent, a 10 percent hike in fuel, alcohol and tobacco taxes and a further reduction in public sector salaries and pensions.

We must wait to see if the Eurogroup leaders now have the nerve to force these huge commitments upon their peoples via enforced parliamentary votes, especially considering the near certainty that the funds will never be repaid or that more will not soon be required elsewhere within the eurozone.

Meantime, how can any prospective UK Prime Minister expect to call upon the sacrifices necessary to cure Britain's similarly horrendous deficit and debts when he has so far avoided even beginning to confront reality and coming clean with the electorate? Marr suggested that Conservative cuts of around eleven billion equaled only some 17 to 20 per cent of the total being suggested by the Institue of Fiscal Studies...... Cameron's disgraceful response may be read from a link to be placed here tomorrow, or by tuning in to the BBC Parliament Channel for a re-run of the interview this evening.

Only UKIP by calling for fifty billion pounds worth of cuts this year and a withdrawal from the train wreck that is now the EU presently seems worthy of your vote this week! For reasons why real conservatives should not vote Tory read Peter Hitchens today in the Mail on Sunday, linked here.

Cameron stands for the same old Corrupted Politics NOT "Change" at ALL!

The two posts below show quite clearly how David Cameron obtained victory in the Party leadership election. How could YouGov at the early stages of the leadership election have got the Daily Telegraph to report the following on 12th November 2005? I quote:

The poll shows that 68 per cent of party members who have returned their ballot papers backed Mr Cameron, compared with 32 per cent for his older and more experienced rival, David Davis.

Mr Cameron has a similar lead among the 67 per cent who have still to vote, with 66 per cent saying they will back him, compared with 34 per cent for Mr Davis.

How did YouGov have access to the Conservative Party membership lists?

Why had the ballots of those votes already cast been opened and revealed to YouGov in complete contempt for any fair electoral procedure? If they had not been opened, how could the party differentiate between those who had voted and those who had not?

As I asked at the time, what was the size of the sample? If YouGov asked those on its lists these questions during the poll the sample size could only have been tiny and therefore the publication of the result in this manner appears to have been designed by YouGov and the Telegraph to swing the result?

Either the candidate himself or those supporting him appear to have broken with all proper electoral protocol.

Why has the Conservative Party remained silent on this issue for the past 5 years?

Swinging an election in such a manner does not represent change, it stands for all that is corrupted in party politics. Any who now vote for David Cameron and his party are effectively voting for a continuation of the rottenness that has been within Britain's government system for the past thirteen years, if not even longer!
The Telegraph Polling Report that sealed Cameron's Leadership

The report to which my posting of 11th November referred as explained in the post beneath this of earlier today is quoted below. As my original link does not now work it is impossible for me to know if this is exactly the same as the article upon which I commented. My posting was dated 11th November 2005, whereas this apparently was only published on the 12th November 2005.

The link is here. Note the images on the polling results! The article stated the following:

Cameron takes big lead as the votes come in

By George Jones and Brendan Carlin
1 of 2 Images

David Cameron has established a 2-1 lead among the third of Conservative Party members who have voted in the leadership election, according to a YouGov survey for The Daily Telegraph today.

The contest enters a critical stage next week with the start of nationwide hustings for the 254,000 Tory members and only a major upset looks likely to prevent Mr Cameron, 39, becoming the next leader.

The survey confirms that Mr Davis has made up some ground over the past week but he needs a 25 per cent swing to overtake Mr Cameron before the poll closes on Dec 5.

It would take a serious gaffe by Mr Cameron or a stunning comeback by Mr Davis at next week's hustings to derail the Cameron campaign and stop him being crowned the next leader early next month.

Mr Davis, 56, impressed MPs with a strong performance in Wednesday's debate on police powers to detain terrorist suspects, which resulted in Tony Blair's first Commons defeat since he came to power.

He has also announced plans for tax cuts and referendums on Europe aimed at the party's core supporters and got the better of Mr Cameron in a Question Time debate on BBC Television.

But grassroots Tories appear to prefer Mr Cameron's youth and freshness to Mr Davis's experience.

A large majority sees him as a man of the future under whom the Conservatives could make a fresh start after three election defeats. He does not appear to have been damaged by his more liberal views on drugs, even though they are rejected by a majority of party members.

The YouGov findings were backed by several Tory MPs, who reported that Mr Cameron had captured the imagination of many of their local activists.

Anne Maine, the MP for St Albans, who formerly supported Mr Davis, said she was now backing Mr Cameron, taking his support to 107 MPs - well over half the 198-strong parliamentary party.

Michael Ancram, the party's deputy leader, said the backing of a clear majority of Tory MPs was an important signal to party members.

In 2001, when Iain Duncan Smith was elected, party members did not know who the majority of the parliamentary party backed.

"This time it is different," Mr Ancram said. "We now know that a clear majority of the parliamentary party supports David Cameron. I am sure that will be taken into account by members as they reach their decision."

Yesterday Mr Cameron attacked Mr Davis's tax cut plans, portraying his opponent as a Right-winger who had deserted the centre ground.

"Our party faces a clear choice in this contest," he said. "Do we move to the Right or do we fight for the centre gound?"

Interviewed on More 4 last night, he said he thought the Duchess of Cornwall should become queen when the Prince of Wales became king. He said he would vote for a reduction in the 24-week limit for abortions but did not want it to go lower than 18 weeks.

Today Mr Davis will appeal directly to Tory councillors by promising to put local government at the heart of "a Conservative renaissance".

A Reminder of how Cameron stole the Conservative Party

My posting to this blog on 11th November 2005, linked here, ended as follows:

This blog quite correctly predicted the outcome of a Michael Howard leadership takeover - I feel equally certain that if the Tories go for Cameron then it will be the end of their party. How best to then restore decency and democracy to British politics will then become an even trickier problem.

It now seems Nick Clegg is providing the answer. The entire posting is repeated below as archive links on this blog do not always work well AND it reveals the dirty dealngs behind Cameron's placement into the leadership, even though the link to the proof in the Telegraph does not now work!!!!!

The post below was first published on 11th November 2005:

Tories heading for oblivion?

If the headline article in the online edition of the Daily Telegraph is to be believed the Conservative Party is doomed as David Cameron, the media darling who will become its mauled and mangled victim by the next General Election were he to become Party Leader, is reported to have opened an early and large lead over rival David Davis in the leadership contest.

Such are the results of a YouGov poll which has been so manipulatively reported as to condemn the Telegraph to the lowest possible level of even present day journalism. The report may be read from this link.

To try to grasp the degree of distortion it is necessary to recall the basis on which YouGov polls. Anybody can join YouGov and participate in those polls as they may wish. Is it really likely as the report seems to imply that one third of those conservative party members who have already voted are signed up as YouGov contributors. Unlike most polls published as far as I can find there is nowhere any reference to the size of the sample. Just how many conservative party members who have already voted could have been polled - it must be an incredibly small number unless there was some collusion or identification of names of those who had voted from party sources, any names thus provided could then well have been tilted towards the results desired by the Telegraph group owners and editors and/or the party establishment.

Evidence of the desired outcome of the senior party hierarchy comes later in the same report which states:

"Anne Maine, the MP for St Albans, who formerly supported Mr Davis, said she was now backing Mr Cameron, taking his support to 107 MPs - well over half the 198-strong parliamentary party.

Michael Ancram, the party's deputy leader, said the backing of a clear majority of Tory MPs was an important signal to party members."

The Gaderene rush to support the dubious, media reported front-runner by sitting MPs and their European counterparts is understandable when looking at the calibre and motives of the present elected party and remembering that were Cameron to win at only 39 years of age and given his apparent lack of policies and therefore presumably either character or principles, future advancement within the party is likely to be lost pretty much forever as far as the present entire elected members are concerned.

The announcement by the comparatively youthful Owen Paterson MP for David Davis is particularly commendable in this regard.

This blog quite correctly predicted the outcome of a Michael Howard leadership takeover - I feel equally certain that if the Tories go for Cameron then it will be the end of their party. How best to then restore decency and democracy to British politics will then become an even trickier problem.

LibDems to offer Britain an In or Out Referendum on the EU.

The Liberal Democrat Foreign Affairs spokesman, Ed Davey has just promised on BBC 2 Foreign Affairs debate, with William Hague and David Miliband, that Britain will be given a full IN or OUT referendum on the EU before any more powers are ceded to the EU.

Considering that last Friday the Commission started pushing for "Economic Governance" and that the LibDems now look poised to be the election winners this is indeed fantastic news.

Where Now?

Most commentators in the Sunday press and over the airways seem at a lost to cope with the facts of the latest poll from the Mail on Sunday which has the LibDems ahead of the two other parties.

As what has occurred is pretty much in line with this blog's predictions over several years I can perhaps suggest with some authority that the consensus that Clegg will now be kingmaker for either Brown or Cameron as extremely unlikely - the electorate will not stand for it!

As the polling reality sinks home, the need will be for voters to abandon Labour and the Conservatives and if opposed to the LibDems find small party alternatives which reflect individual voters views.

The next step after wishing for a hung parliament is to ensure that as few Labour and Tory candidates are elected as possible. After all it is these shallow, self-serving non-entities who have raised the public's ire in the first place.

The Tories could replace Cameron with David Davies, after all the election of Cameron was rigged anyway as reported on this blog, who might then have a chance to form a team offering conservative policies. While it is unlikely he could win an election at such short notice, he might make a more acceptable coalition partner for Mr Clegg, although I fear Vince Cable will only accept a Lib/Lab coalition.

I believe the Englsh Democrats have an important message which deserves representation in the new parliament, view the video on this BBC link, AND of course UKIP must provide a counter to the rabid EU fanaticism of the LibDems, please read my important posting of yesterday on Ironies Too titled Germans, Napalm and the Euro Currency, linked here.

ICM put LibDems up by seven points

The Lib Dems are now on 27 per cent, just behind Labour (down two to 29 per cent), with the Conservatives in the lead but down three points to 34 per cent, their lowest rating in an ICM poll since September 2007

The poll is for the Sunday Telegraph and the link to the report is here.

The English Democrats launched their campaign in Dagenham today with around 100 candidates standing. Now is the chance to kick the three main parties out of Westminster, for change is indeed in the wind but not blowing for Cameron and his joke Conservatives!
Crashing Cameron!

Last Saturday I contributed the following comment to the Matthew Parris column in The Times, linked here:

Martin Cole wrote:
Even worse tactics arrived this morning, I feel sure Mr Parris would agree, with the throwing away of a controversial new levy on the banks for a meaningless small subsidy to a tiny number of attached couples!

Today could mark the high-point of Cameron's campaign!
(Blogger's emphasis)

There has not been one poll taken this week which I have seen that proves me wrong so far.

Now we have had the first TV debate and Matthew Parris throws up this rot.

What was Cameron thinking during the ninety minutes of debate on ITV? Playground bullies in the toughest of primary schools are sometimes impressed by the threat that a victims father might be a policeman, no doubt at Cameron's prep school the revelation that his Mummy was a magistrate could have put awe in his schoolmates, but it left this viewer, (and, I imagine, much of the country), completely unimpressed.

All the huge character deficiencies of Vapid Cameron, detailed on this blog down the years were fully on display last Thursday. Next week the critical matter of the EU and international affairs must be covered. I have already blogged on the glaring contradiction in the manifesto which demonstrates Cameron's plan to continue to sell out the nation to the EU, there will be more on this topic on this blog next week and an important item on "Germans, Napalm and the Euro" on Ironies Too later this weekend.

The Conservatives and the EU

I quote below the section of the Tory manifesto referred to in my post of this morning:

"As the Lisbon Treaty allows a number of the further changes to the EU's rules without a new Treaty, a Conservative Government would change the law so that any use of these "ratchet clauses" would require full approval by Parliament, and where they amount to handing over an area of power, e.g. abolishing vetoes over foreign policy, a referendum would be required."

I recall posting on the subject of this ratchet provision which I described as an "escalator" on Ironies back on 1st December 2003, (like many postings of that era it seems to have been removed from the blog's archives) it, therefore, seems worth repeating now:

The proposed EU Constitution ESCALATOR Clause

This proposal has been difficult to pin down. We have found this explanation on a report from EurActiv summarising a study from The Federal Trust:-

The 'Escalator Clause'

The Convention's draft treaty also contains the so-called 'Escalator Clause' which allows member states to move policy areas, by a unanimous vote, from unanimity to the qualified majority procedure, without having to convene an IGC. The operation of the proposed new system could only be invoked by a unanimous vote of the European Council, thus ensuring that national vetoes remain effective in this area. The rationale of this proposal is that experience of an enlarged European Union may demonstrate to member states that desirable decision-making in certain policy areas is becoming impossible through the need for unanimity. The 'escalator' system would make it easier to solve any such problems without recourse to the cumbersome procedure of an IGC.

This is clearly an attempt to chip away at any areas requiring unanimity in the Constitution on a case by case basis. Quite why the devious minds at work behind the giant conspiracy the EU has become, consider a nation state will voluntarily abandon its veto in the European Council when it would refuse to do so in an IGC is hard to quickly understand.

Nevertheless one situation that does come to mind is when a nation state has been suspended under the provisions first agreed in the Nice Treaty. They then lose their vote. The escalator clause would thus allow the suspension of an awkward member say the UK, on some spurious grounds such as supporting the USA in enforcing UN sanctions in the Iraqi no fly zone as once they did...... and while the suspension was in force - using the escalator clause to make taxation, defence and foreign policy no longer subject to unanimity but to the Qualified Voting Majority procedures.

Alternatively financial or other bullying pressure could be applied on a regular basis against smaller, poorer nations thus forced to abandon strategically important matters, perhaps of chief national interest only to themselves.

The 'Escalator Clause' looks like becoming yet another tool of oppression in the new tyrannical EU conglomerstate. On first reading of this clause it was in the French version "PASSERELLE" and we translated it in the sense of 'Gangway' or the internet usage 'Gateway'. ESCALATOR is far more apt, once your are on....there is indeed no getting off!

NB I will try to re-publish the entire Ironies blog so that the many most important posts regarding our takeover by the EU can be found by a simple search. Since re-posting an earlier post from December 2003 on this blog a few days ago the entire first eleven days of postings from that month cannot now be found from the archives!
Cameron's Manifesto - mixing mendacity and moonstruck meanderings

The idea that the governed can now take over and cure the national indebtedness and our subservience to Foreign Powers to create some "My Little Pony" style paradise in the sky as portrayed by the conservative Party's manifesto launched yesterday beggars belief.

Coming in stiff hard back to presumably supply the spine and practicality the text so clearly lacks, it would be hard at first not to believe the whole thing had not been assembled by a bunch of eleven year old schoolgirls given a project to describe an ideal world in which they would someday like to marry and grow up.

In view of my concerns that the EU is the greatest threat to all our futures I turned to the page on Europe and was immediately confronted with the sheer outrageous deceit that has become the hallmark of the Conservative Party over recent years, particularly while under the leadership of Vapid Cameron. Previously Cameron had pledged his party to providing a referendum on the EU whenever future changes were agreed. Now a referendum will only be given under changes forced through by the Lisbon Treaty if they are of major importance, such as a veto over our Foreign Policy.

This is pure hypocrisy. No country will accept such a veto in a Treaty. What will occur is pressure under other economic proposals to bring countries into line on EU Foreign Policy. Consolidation of embassies etc., under EU control of the string puppet Awful Ashton and further intermingling of our armed forces will additionally quickly prevent any independent Foreign Policy remaining in any of the former nation states. EU Foreign Policy will soon be German Foreign Policy, end of!

Cameron, in his manifesto, has made clear this is acceptable to him as long as he can live in Downing Street letting the hoi polloi imagine that they are in charge while starting up their own underfunded and therefore doomed schools and living under the minute control of the EU police state.

Populus in The Times today reports the Tory lead down to 3%. This is a trend that has been evident since the weekend. We must hope that it continues such that the Conservative Party is no longer seen as a contender. Voter's attention can then turn to the main task of preventing the major parties having the ability to form a Government, with over three weeks remaining in the campaign this might not be out of the question if UKIP's NEC reversed their earlier decision on an electoral alliance with the nationalists and the other minor parties within England.

Lord Pearson is so far the only televised party leader that I have seen talking sense on the nation's future.

What David Cameron means by "Progressive"

On 7th November 2003, upon Michael Howard's election to leadership of the Conservative Party I blogged on progressive politics. The posting from my other blog Ironies, linked here, seems worth repeating in full, so that today's voters may be fully aware of what is meant when Cameron states that the Conservative Party is "Progressive".

"Multilateralism, Transnational Progessivism, the Aqui Communitaire and Howard's Tories."

The French have chosen to label the nature of their foreign policy differences Multilateralism versus Unilateralism. In countering what they see as the threat of the latter (America making all the world?s big decisions on its own) they propose in particular a bi-polar rather than uni-polar world (in reality an EU superstate acting as a counterweight to American power, and
influence). An important tool in achieving this aim, the EU being a military pygmy alongside the US, is the United Nations.

Iraq threw these conflicting views to the front of the world stage. Following the Kuwait invasion the UN had imposed various sanctions, no-fly zones etc., upon Iraq. The burden of implementation fell mainly upon the US aided by Britain. As the years passed the suspicion formed in my mind that other major countries, while paying lip service to the UN mandated restraints, sought maximum commercial advantage from their non-involvement in the enforcement process and benefit from the latent oil wealth of Saddam?s oppressed nation.
(This may or may not have been a factor in what followed).

After 9/11 and the defeat of the Taliban in Afghanistan, attention turned to Iraq where the UN arms inspectors had been withdrawn and Saddam Hussein was in growing breach of many UN resolutions. At this point the limits of multilateralism were reached. This is most easily illustrated by looking at the concept from an American viewpoint.

Transnational Progressivism was the expression coined by Jonn Fonte in a paper 'The Ideological War within the West' published a year before 9/11 and is essential reading. A summary can be read from this link:

'Transnational Progressivism'

The full version in pdf can be read from this other link:

'Liberal Democracy vs. Transnational Progressivism: The Future of the Ideological Civil War Within the West'

Those without the time to visit either link can follow the reasoning of this posting with this very brief extract:

The idea of transnationalism as a major conceptual tool. Transnationalism is the next stage of multicultural ideology. Like multiculturalism, transnationalism is a concept that provides elites with both an empirical tool (a plausible analysis of what is) and an ideological framework (a vision of what should be). Transnational advocates argue that globalization requires some form of "global governance" because they believe that the nation-state and the idea of national citizenship are ill suited to deal with the global problems of the future.

AS Fonte then went on to point out in his paper, the EU is the "STRONGHOLD OF TRANSNATIONAL PROGRESSIVISM Its governmental structure is post-democratic. Power in the EU principally resides in the European Commission (EC) and to a lesser extent the European Court of Justice (ECJ). The EC, the EU's executive body, initiates legislative action, implements common policy, and controls a large bureaucracy.... It is unelected and, for the most part, unaccountable."

The lable chosen by the EU to describe this concept is not of course that coined by Fonte, but rather the concept described as 'Aqui Communitaire'. This is generally taken to mean: "whatever power is once obtained by the EU from the previously sovereign nation states it will never relinquish". As such it has now been proposed in the present IGC, as the principal guiding aim of the Constitutional Treaty absorbing and supplementing the earlier
concept of 'ever closer union'. It presumably incorporates all the concepts of 'Transnational Progressivism' as detailed in Fonte's paper.

Iraq and the UN Security Council was where the clash between liberal democracy and this newly defined concept really first occurred and where the fatalflaws of joint action are now becoming visible. The skirmishing over the ICC was a warning sign.

France and Germany had approved the various UN resolutions that gradually brought the Iraq situation to a head. They concurred with the various warnings issued by the Security Council, and were aware of the troop build-up by the USA and Britain around Iraq. Their own Generals would have advised them that such deployment necessitated a resolution of the matter, if by military means before the onset of the summer heat of 2003.

The gradual increasing of pressure on Saddam Hussein therefore had a fixed time limit. Of which it later seemed France and Germany chose to feign ignorance. Just as today the logical endpoint of their Multilateralist policy for Iraq continues to call for a UN solution, when the reality is clear to all that this organisation has neither the wherewithal, ability or desire to have anything to do with matters that require making hard choices in potentially extremely hostile environments. The UN has turned and fled following heavy and tragic casualties, unhappily many brought about by inefficiencies within its own organisation.

Yesterday in Washington President Bush spoke to the National Endowment for Democracy, and made a landmark speech setting out hugely ambitious aims for democracy across the Middle East. Having earlier signed an aid package from the USA for eighty seven and a half billion dollars in the form of grants for Iraq he shamed the Europeans in both the loftiness of America's thinking and the depths of America's pockets.

Transnational Progressivism and the cul de sac of the Aqui Communitaire stand shamed and naked. The extent of the failure of the European Union's economic experiment with the Euro, was simultaneously stunningly spelt out in the first press conference of Jean-Claude Trichet the shoehorned-in new French President of the ECB, whose early ousting of Wim Duisenberg epitomises the workings of the 'aqui communitaire' concept in practice.

Meantime Britain has been caught in the middle. Or it had been up until midday. From that moment, with the appointment of Michael Howard as leader of the Conservative opposition party it appeared Transnational Progressivism has been embraced by the last of the three main political parties within the country.

Michael Howard had earlier made much play of his intention of leading from the centre. He had indeed openly courted those with whom he had earlier been seen to have huge and fundamental disagreements over the most important policy matter of this age, namely Britain?s relationship with the anti-nation state, non-democratic and 'transnational progressivist' EU.

The BBC reported the new Tory leader to have said the following:

"We must rediscover the habit of thinking the best of each other. We must rediscover the virtues of mutual support and friendship.
Let us, in this party that vaunts its belief in personal responsibility, each resolve that we will, all of us, assume a personal responsibility for the success of our endeavour.
No bystanders. No snipers from the sidelines. Every one of us a fully engaged participant in the great battle of hearts and minds and ideas.
Because we have an extraordinary common thread that binds us all together.
We all want to see a Conservative government elected. We are all crew on what at its best is the most superb campaigning vessel politics has ever known."

Translated of course , this means, we must forget our deeply held ideological beliefs, give up all thought of proposing to do what we know is best and right for the country and merely work together in order to gain power.

Exactly what Blair did in driving New Labour to Government with no purpose other than power itself, with the ruination of the nation as its result.

Another fitting analogy would be Chamberlain with Hitler and Mussolini. Suppressing his ideological instincts to buy something that appeared more comfortable or desirable however temporary.

The extraordinary thing about the timing of this change within the Conservative Party, is that it comes at a moment when the tide is beginning to turn. Schroeder this week seemed to step back from his support of the EU defence commitment. The folly of recent French domestic policies and questioning of Foreign policy errors are all the talk of Paris.

The consensus within Europe that Howard and the Tories are belatedly rushing to embrace is cracking. 'Transnational Progressivism' and the 'Aqui Communitaire' can be beaten, and indeed the first signs it might be in retreat are only now appearing. In Britain, however, we now have no political party to take the battle forward.

Cameron's ludicrous NHS ring fence receives public's contempt (or NOT?)

The video should be viewed from 5 minutes 32 seconds onwards.

Now watch the first few moments of this:

Somewhere here in the live broadcast I recall huge applause for Cable's "no ring fence" assertion, it seems to have disappeared.

Am I mistaken? Those in the UK can visit the Channel 4 replay to find out, unavailable for me go here.
Top Tories to get 2 more years to rip off the taxpayers.

Senior members of the present Shadow Cabinet are among the highest claimants for unjustified second home mortgage claims in the present House of Commons.

The new rules issued yesterday, will allow this scam to continue for a further two years for sitting MPs although new members will only able to claim for single roomed accommodation in London.

Yet more reason to withdraw your vote from any MP who has sat in this most corrupt of all Parliaments. Let a new start begin and some spring cleaning commence.

Surely present Cabinet Members have no chance of re-election even without this further consideration?

Time runs out for the Tories!

A Reuters poll by MORI produced at lunchtime today, read here, showing the Tories well behind in their targeted marginal constituencies hopefully spells the beginning of the end for the Ashcroft/Cameron/Hague/Osborne clique who have had their heads in the sands for many months. Their destruction of the Conservative Party may, however, be no bad thing. The voters must now reject all three of the corrupted main parties. More on this may be read from my first post of today on Ironies Too, linked here.

Cameron implodes on Jeff Randall Live

The Conservative election campaign crashed into the buffers at full speed last evening when the party's clearly clueless Leader showed he had no grasp whatever on any issue. The following comment on the party's favourite blog Conservative Home, contributing to a discussion thread on the latest awful opinion poll result, summed it up well as follows:

Danielle said...

You want to know why we are slipping in the polls. Watch Jeff Randall interview Cameron on sky about ten minutes ago. A complete f*****g disaster. He defended cutting defence but increasing aid, was not at all convincing on immigration and completely lied about Europe. It was a complete car crash. Randall was excellent though and is an example to other journalists of the type of issues that the voters really want answers on. How can the conservative party stand by while Cameron is pushing these policies. Maybe it is about time we took a lead from our cousins in Australia and got rid of Cameron like they got rid of Turnbull.

Cameron maxing his mortgage

The Times
, among others, reports that MPs might have to repay capital gains made on second homes accrued thanks to publicly financed allowances. The BBC suggests that this will only apply from last November, presumably therefore revealing that this is in fact now a new con designed to get the taxpayer to cover capital losses in the face of yet another almost certain property price collapse!

As has been the subject of many postings on our sister blogs Ironies and Ironies Too down the years the only real solution will be to claw back funds paid to existing MPs through their future unwarranted pension arrangements.

The recovering of money received by MPs claimed when operating within the so-called 'rules' of what has laughably been called 'the system', such as the scam operated by David Cameron and reported in the Daily Mail, read here, should be among the first to be called in, possibly with penalty payments because of the sophistication of the serial abuse and the claimant's continuing protestations that he himself has done nothing wrong.

Of course not voting for his party or any of their candidates in the coming general election would be the most sensible and obvious first step.

Parliamentary privilege is the people's protection

David Cameron is proposing a new law to suspend the protection accorded MPs by parliamentary privilege according to a report in the Daily Telegraph, linked here, this morning.

David Cameron is therefore proposing that he can assume dictatorial powers should the electorate be stupid enough to vote him into office. The article contains the following quote:

Announcing that charges would be brought against the four, Kier Stamer, the Director of Public Prosecutions said the four parliamentarians had raised a defence of parliamentary privilege.

He said: “We have considered that question and concluded that the applicability and extent of any parliamentary privilege claimed should be tested in court.”

The whole issue of the 1689 Bill of Rights, the treason of the Parliamentarians who voted for the Lisbon Treaty in light of its hidden powers now being revealed regarding the conditions the EU could impose on Greece following a financial bail-out and Cameron's shameful ignorance of the constitutional implications of his ill-thought through attacks on our parliamentary procedures will form the topic of a blog on Ironies Too later this week.

Cameron should heed Kipling

England only seeks fairness, those with "lots of Scot's blood" flowing through their veins should heed Rudyard Kipling! The complete poem Norman and Saxon may be read from here.

Norman and Saxon

"My son," said the Norman Baron, "I am dying, and you will
be heir
To all the broad acres in England that William gave me for
share
When he conquered the Saxon at Hastings, and a nice little
handful it is.
But before you go over to rule it I want you to understand this:--

"The Saxon is not like us Normans. His manners are not so polite.
But he never means anything serious till he talks about justice
right.
When he stands like an ox in the furrow--with his sullen set eyes
on your own,
And grumbles, 'This isn't fair dealing,' my son, leave the Saxon
alone.

David Cameron knows the Barnett Formula is unfair to England, see his reply to Andrew Marr, posted below. David Cameron should be warned in the coming election that advice framed by Rudyard Kipling for Normans goes for the Picts as well.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Of course Cameron will do nothing to help the English, he is committed to the Barnett formula, the effect of which is to manufacture a huge subsidy flowing ever faster North across the border to Scotland!

Why is this the case? Who knows, but perhaps the answer lies in his response to a question once posed by fellow Scot, Andrew Marr, as seen and quoted in the posting that follows.

Monday, January 25, 2010

ANDREW MARR: Sure - another area of constitutional argument just at the moment is the whole business of the Scots and the English. Lots of people are saying now there should be English votes for English laws - Ken Clarke is clearly attracted by that - and there's quite hubbub now saying that the Scots are getting too much public money, that the old Barnett formula, in fact Joel Barnett himself has said this, needs to be looked at again. Are the Scots getting too much public money at the moment, proportionately?

DAVID CAMERON: I don't have any plans to change the arrangements. Obviously we're in opposition, we have the opportunity to look at these things and we should do so. But I don't have any plans to make changes. And we should look at funding on the basis of need. And I think that's the right way, right way round. But I want, you know, I am a passionate Unionist, I think that Scotland brings a huge amount to the United Kingdom. The Scottish people bring a huge amount to the United Kingdom and I don't want, and I'm a Cameron, there is quite a lot of Scottish blood flowing through these veins.
